The AusCAPPS Network

The Australian Contraception and Abortion Primary Care Practitioner Support Network

The Australian Contraception and Abortion Primary Care Practitioner Support Network (AusCAPPS) improves equitable access to long-acting reversible contraception (LARC) and early medical abortion (EMA) services in primary care. To support the expansion of best-practice service delivery across Australia, the AusCAPPS Network connects EMA and LARC providers through peer-networking opportunities and access to resources and training.

The network replicates a highly successful Canadian model and connects GPs, nurses and pharmacists with news, resources, practical advice and training on the provision of LARC (including intrauterine devices and hormonal implants) and EMA.

Interested in joining AusCAPPS?

We’re inviting general practitioners, practice nurses and community pharmacists working in general practice to join our network.

With a recruitment goal of 3,000 participants, our community of practice links leading researchers in contraception and abortion with key industry organisations (national, state-based, government and non-government) to drive innovation and sustainable improvements in these essential services nationwide.

Benefits of joining AusCAPPS:
  • Connect with GPs, pharmacists and nurses around Australia who also provide LARC and EMA services
  • Access training and education opportunities relating to LARC insertion and EMA
  • Access our expert network and community noticeboards
  • Access resources, guidelines, referral forms and patient handouts
  • Connect with the latest news and research related to LARC and EMA

The AusCAPPS Network is inviting all general practitioners, nurses working in general practice and community-based pharmacists to take part in a national survey. This survey aims to understand your knowledge, attitudes, and current practices in delivering long-acting reversible contraception (LARC) and medical abortion (EMA) in primary care.
